buyers be aware switch bait pricing
by edwin from turlock ca | March 14, 2021

This place is super shady, be super careful, they will list one price to drag you down to the dealer and switch bait for a higher price because is demand. The do not honor the listing price and try to add extra, and by extra I mean thousands not 300-400 dollars. If you are in the market do some research and shop around and call before you go here. Be aware of this dealer. They manager almost didn’t care at all to correct the mistake, sucks to see dealer take advantage of pandemic and charge mark up fees of $3500 because of demand. Shows the kind of business practices they teach their employees and local residence. Good luck to you guys and your practices.

    Sleazy Sales Tactics
by SMontenegro from San Diego, Ca | December 24, 2020

Bait and switch, Trying to sell on payment instead of on price repeatedly when I specified I wasn’t concerned with them finding me a payment as I had cash in hand. Price was around 10k over sticker price, so dishonest it was actually amusing. Grossly undervalued my trade in. Sales rep Austin even tried to tell me I had to pay california sales tax when I am a resident in another state and would have had the new car registered there. This could have been purposeful or he’s just misinformed. Mind you, this was before asking price was even shown to me. Just poor sales tactics and dishonesty left and right. Would not recommend. Far Better deals at other SD county Toyota dealers don’t waste your time on this one. And such steep unfair markups during a pandemic? Do better, Mossy

    Bait and switch
by Angel from San Diego, CA | April 08, 2020

What a disastrous appointment. Jason and Dan pulled a bait and switch, I don't think their was any attempt to get a hold of you. They did not honor the price on your e-mail and totally disregarded it. Sent Gina Gonzales an e-mail of my experience.

Experience with MOSSY TOYOTA SCION Service Visit
by Rajesh Varikuti from San Diego | January 22, 2020

I want share my experience with Mossy Toyota service, San Diego, CA. I took a service appointment for my car because after my tire rotation whenever I am pressing breaks it's getting noise from wheels. Actually I took multiple appointments for the same issue one time they took 4 - 5 hours and they didn't find any issue. I don't know why they took 5hours. And again I took service appointment one more time and they took 3 hours and said issue fixed and they said now onwards you will not hear noise, but still I am getting same noise again and again. I don't no what they fixed? After seeing all of this I felt very bad about Mossy Toyota. And one more thing is each and every appointment I am seeing different issues, one time I got break noise issue and next servicing I am getting pickup issue. I don't know whether they are fixing issues or making issues. Thank you for Great servicing Mossy Toyota!

    Great Buying Experience
by Isma from Indio, CA | June 03, 2019

Had a great buying experience. I was given a spreadsheet with my total out the door price listing everything before deciding to purchase. Also was provided with what my payments would be with my credit range and financing offers available. Didn’t have to speak to multiple people to work on the price. Car was ready for my inspection upon arrival. Would highly recommend Jake.

Ruined my leather seats during detail
by Timothy R Belanger from San Diego | August 18, 2018

I could not be more frustrated and dissatisfied with their service. Here is my story, as it is unfolding, I will continue to update. I Have been a customer of Mossy Toyota in "Beautiful Pacific Beach" since 2015, when I purchased my pre-owned 2011 Toyota Prius. I had a reasonable experience with them, so I have continued to get my car serviced there for each scheduled maintenance. On Thursday, 8/16/18, I brought my car in at 10:15 am for a scheduled maintenance, and a warranty repair. As always, I asked to do business with Ken Bailey, as he has always been straight forward, seemingly honest and no nonsense. Just the type of person I typically like to do business with when dealing with my car. Ken asked me if I also wanted a detail and cleaning...I figured, sure! have not done a deep clean in a while. I opted for the "VIP Full Interior Detail, 'Auto Spa' " -$139.95 (thinking, dealership would do a great job, worth the extra money) Ken called me around 2pm to let me know my car would be ready between 5:00pm or 5:15pm. I told him i would be there to pick it up at 5:15pm. ...SO far, business as usual. pay a little extra to go to a dealership, but they are super thorough and communicative. exactly what i would expect. the problem came when i went to pick up the car. 5:20pm -Arrived at 5:20, they handed me the keys after paying for services (total $245.11 Detail, oil changed, tire rotation...scheduled maintenance..etc). Told me to go to the white tent and they will bring my car around. car was parked near by, found by employee under tent by pressing alarm. I opened the driver side door, only to be greated by a Bright yellow stripe on the edge of my seat. I thought it was paint at first...They rubbed off the finish of my leather seats during the detail!!!!! 5:30pm -I immediately went back inside and spoke with Richard Carver. Richard called Gil down to take a look. Gil came out and looked at it, rubbed it more and said " when I rub it, it just gets bigger"... Deep sigh... Gil proceeded to try to explain to me that Some times the oil in skin can cause discoloration and deterioration in leather and he sees it all the time in arm rests and seats. I told him I don't need a chemistry lesson, and explained that when i dropped the car off, there was nothing there. there is no sign of deterioration anywhere else in the car, and now there is. It had to have originated in the last 6 hours, while the car was in their possession. 5:40went back inside, spoke to Richard Carver again. he said that there is nothing we can do right now, but Ken Bailey will be back in and call me first thing in the morning. left feeling frustrated and helpless. Either these guys are trying to be sleazy and don't care, or management has tied their hands so tight behind their back...when something goes wrong, the best they can hope for is the customer gives up. 9am the next day Ken called and asked me if i could bring the car back in to take a look at it. I told him i have pictures I would be happy to send him, but i cant get away from work till later. He declined pictures and said he would try to talk to his manager to see what can be done and he would call back. 12:09pm -- Ken called back, left a message asking if i could bring the car in before 1pm today so his director can look at it. 1:10pm -- Returned ken's call, Ken said the manager talked to the technician that cleaned my car. He said technician said the marks were there before I brought the car in..... I told Ken that that was a blatant Lie, there is no markings anywhere else on the driver's seat, or on any of the other interior leather. that was not there before. I could literally hear Ken shrug his shoulders telling me there is nothing that can be done. I am so deeply disappointing with Both Mossy and Ken Bailey. Avoid these guys at all costs!!!! All will be fine until it isnt, then you are out in the cold.

    James was awesome
by Christina from San Diego, CA | October 08, 2017

James was so awesome he didn't care about selling me the most expensive car there he wanted to make sure I bought something that I could afford and made sure I could handle the payments something a friend would do and not a dealer. He was really nice and all around great guy. Thanks James

    Rocky start, excellent finish
by HappyCustomer from San Diego, CA | August 02, 2017

At first I wasn't too happy with the lack of responsiveness from a few of the salesmen. However, I was passed over to Jun who saved the day! He was very polite, kind, good listener and helped me find the perfect vehicle at the best possible price. He made the process much better than I could have ever expected. If you find yourself in the market for a Toyota, don't bother wasting your time at other dealerships. Go straight to Mossy and ask for Jun!

    extremely helpfull
by Steve from Jamul from Jamul, Ca | August 02, 2017

I had bought my Highlander at a dealer close to home. I drove in to Mossy because it was close by when I noticed that I had a tire problem. Mossy's service writer, Brian Robitaille was friendly, courteous and professional. They fixed up my car and treated me like a longtime client.
