    Certified preowned Toyota purchase
by Texan from Houston, TX | November 23, 2020

Toyota of Katy will rip you off. They included a $1500 “reconditioning fee” on a certified preowned Toyota. I will be reporting this dealer to Toyota as this is a bogus charge as being certified it should always be reconditioned without an extra fee. I double checked this after purchase with another Toyota dealer. Toyota of Katy also charges a apex fee that costs around $900. The salesman was friendly enough however the sales manager did not wear his mask properly in the peak time of COVID and was also rude and disrespectful. I highly discourage using this dealership.

    Worst Dealership
by MJP from Houston, TX | June 13, 2020

Most dishonest dealership I have ever dealt with. Sales Manager agreed to terms with me and then once in finance deal was completely different. Took the vehicle back due to a cracked windshield and was promised a new windshield. Still waiting on a new windshield and no one will give me any answers on the timeline of the repair. They "demo" out all of the cars to their employees as well. Car that I purchased had over 4700 miles as a new car in the pics on their website vehicle had 7 miles. Still waiting for my trade to be paid off as well--sure this will take over the 10 days they stated. Shady dealership. Toyota should look into this place.

    Sneaky Fees
by Sam from Louisiana | May 14, 2020

Be sure to see the seller notes and if it says “Advertised price does not include recon fees” beware. That fee is about $1,500 depending and they also add an apex fee that costs about $900 which is an added “safety system” installed on all of their vehicles that tracks your car in case it is lost or stolen and you cannot opt out of it. Though their customer service was up to par, and they spent a lot of time messaging me back about all of the questions I had, that was all lost since I asked about final price and saw all of these sneaky additional fees. The cost of the vehicle jumped to an additional $3,566! Yes, the sales manager called me right after I expressed my discontent, and he tried to bring the price down but all of the trust was lost by that point. If you don’t have any problem with paying over-the-top additional fees then go with a deal with them, but if you’re looking for straightforward business then walk away.

    Serious advice
by NotAChump from Houston, TX | January 01, 2020

Absolute worst car buying experience I have ever had. My husband and I dealt with 4 salespeople, who all played bait and switch each time we talked to a new person. Agree on a price, then find a surprise add-on price with the next person. They don't respect your time, and try to tire you out by keeping you waiting for hours on end. We all know they pay the same invoice price for the car as the next dealer, but they haggle like it's going out of style. They have live trees inside their dealership - you know how much that costs?! And where do you think the money came from??? All the people who got robbed during their vehicle purchases... If you MUST deal with them, get everything in writing and don't sign ANYTHING. Get competing offers from other dealerships (I guarantee you they'll beat their price and be nicer in the process). If they bait-and-switch you, cut your losses and run to the next closest dealership because they'll keep doing it and you won't know what you're buying by the end. Their strategy is to get you to like your sales associate or sales manager, and then upcharge you. They act like your friends, and the more you like them the more you pay. Serious advice: don't show excitement, don't act nice, and don't tell them about your personal life. You're there for a business transaction, not to hear their life story and then get caught off guard and pay for the next live tree. Their free oil changes is a scam, since if you miss one they'll cancel it (which means if you move away, you've lost the perk even if you come back). And if you manage to keep it for longer than a couple of years, you're stuck doing the "recommended" repairs at their dealership (at the "recommended" price $$$$$), so they make more money on you than it costs to change oil. If you fail to follow their maintenance plan, no more free oil changes. This dealership gives Toyota a bad name.

    Scamming the System
by Dave from Friendswood, TX | December 05, 2019

The listed price does not include some hypothetical RECON fee that any ethical dealer does not include. It does say there is this fee in the Ad but by listing it at a lower price they get CARS.com and others to classify the vehicle as a good deal when the deal you will get is a Fair to Poor deal. They just want you to look at the car and wait at the dealership for hours until you either buy the car or leave. No regard for your time at all as they purposely drag the process out hoping you will give up. STAY AWAY from this dealer unless you don't really care about how much you will pay.

    Nothing but half-truths and deceit
by TheyAreLiars from Houston, TX | November 21, 2019

Went in to buy a 4Runner about a week ago. Was initially just browsing, but saw a couple I really liked. Everything went well until we went to sign the paperwork. The price seemed to fluctuate at every turn. Every explanation as to why was brief and quick, meant to make you feel dumb for even asking. The sales person we worked with was especially condescending. Would not give straight answers and seemed annoyed to even be working with us. I feel sorry for anyone who has the misfortune of buying a car from him in the future.

Hiding insurances of Blue Steel Corporation
by Victor Solis from Katy | October 02, 2019

Attention ¿¿¿¿ I bought a Tacoma 2019, when I was filing the financial documents the guy VICTOR SOLIS hided extra insurance charges (Blue steel Corporation insurance listed below) he gave two options but in the option with the gap that was what I choose he hided this extra charges that is totally different of the gap insurance and he never show how much this extra charges costs. As all you know there are so many signatures to be filled in any contract and he just said sign here, sign here, sign here... also he had to give me the contract documents the same day of the close but he didn’t (he just gave me the documents the day when I went to claim) cause he knew that after ten days of the close I can’t cancel it. I also remember that he avoid my question when I asked him what will my total financed amount What a bad and frustrating experience. Be careful guys, many people just send your payment and don’t knows what they are paying for.

Do not buy a car here!!!
by DonMcLiars from Katy, Texas | April 25, 2019

Do not buy a car from DonMcSteal Toyota of Katy!!! These guys are liars and con artists. Not only do those greedy Financial Managers try to rob you as much as possible they also sold my family a 2018 Toyota Camry thats leaking oil. They told us the car was perfectly fine and had no problems. My brother works at Sterling Mccall and took it for the first oil change. When he did the oil change he noticed that the oil pan was leaking oil because the oil pan is stripped which means a need a new oil pan. I bought the car about 3 months ago! So this entire time it was leaking oil! Unfortunately my family bought the car "As Is" so these scam artists and liars wont fix it. In conclusion, do not buy a car from DonMcSteal Toyota of Katy! The 2018 Toyota Camry is registered under my mother name Maria Lopez. We will never buy a car here again.
