    bad experience because of manager.
by hecnotic from North Arlington, NJ | February 02, 2021

Let’s start off with the experience was okay with the sales person Ariel. I would buy a car from him but the manager is What pushed me into a 1 star review was when I asked for the manager on the date of 1/26/2020. I was told that “he doesn’t have time to waste”. I feel like as a consumer a manager should always make time when requested. His actions were unprofessional so I walked out. They have three cars with the price of 18,995 but the one I wanted was crashed in the bumper. Was not as displayed. I understand it’s a loaner but the manager refused to have any leniency with the price. The photos online were not as displayed. I wouldn’t have fought the price if the bumper was good just like the other three cars. See photos. Ultimately Ariel did a great job.

Inquired about a vehicle online at 9am and received a response from an internet rep 4 hours later. Internet rep provided me with a window sticker that I asked for and requested my zip code to provide a quote with accurate tax/fee info. Immediately replied with the zip code and a couple questions, sent 2 more emails over the next 24 hours; no response. I think I’ve been blown off. Called dealership, explained to an associate what was happening and that I wanted a different rep to help me get the quote I was looking for; associate railroaded me back to the internet rep. I literally told the guy I didn’t want to deal with that person anymore and he transferred the call anyway. I gave up and hung up at that point. Ready to buy and just wanted some numbers first. My best guess is that I wasn’t being taken seriously because I wasn’t standing in the showroom, but who knows.

Worst experience w/ online sales. Shop elsewhere
by William J Edzards from Seaford | April 17, 2020

Very misleading information given out by multiple employees. Also, they did a very poor job following up with me on the purchase of the car. I contacted them through cars.com on Thursday. I received two emails back pretty quickly from both a salesperson and someone from the Business Development. The salesperson was not working at the dealership due to the pandemic and could not answer questions I had, she was going to reach out to a sales manager and get back to me...she never did. The Business Development person first insinuated that another Toyota dealership was falsely advertising a car that they had was not really Certified...I was taken aback. Then she said a sales person would be in touch with me, someone other than the sales person who had already gotten in touch with me. The person that she was referring to did not get back to me until 6 days later, and at that point the car was already sold. I heard nothing back from any sales person the next day. Two days after my initial inquiry the Internet Director got in touch with me. He was very willing to work with me, and told me that the car was still available. We had exchanged several emails over the course of the day. After asking me a relatively simple questions to which I responded immediately, I never heard back from him. I didnt get anything like "Sorry, we are too far off on price," "Sorry, we have another offer," "Yes, we can do that," NOTHING. Two days later after not hearing back (one of those days was a Sunday holiday) I had emailed him again. At that point I was told that they were going to "look at another offer" that they had received "that morning." I emailed him a few times to express my willingness to continue working with him as I was two days earlier to finish what we had started. Two days go by without him working with me and then I am told that the car had been sold. Beyond that, I was given a story from another salesperson, the one that I was told the week prior would be contacting me, that they had a deal on the car the previous week. When I explained that didnt seem possible based on what the Internet Director had told me, he changed his story again. Plus when I left a negative review on dealerrater they tried to change their story again. Stay away, do not trust them. They put the HACK in Hackensack

    Horrible
by Stephanie from Hackensack, NJ | August 27, 2019

I came in for an oil change and ended up being forced to pay $500 . I was basically held hostage there and was told I could NOT get my car since it was already on the lift. They said my car needed an oil pan because it was leaking and that the whole system needed to be changed. I kept telling them that I didn’t have the money to pay for this and didn’t believe that I had a leak. The agent, Stephanie, DID NOT give me any other options and just kept telling me that I needed to change my oil pan and they could not release my car to me unless this was done. I always come here to get my oil changes from when I’ve purchased my car here! and have never experienced this kind of service! If this was something that was absolutely needed why was this not detected sooner since I had already been waiting for over TWO HOURS. For her to come tell me that my car was already drained and the process was started already and I had no other choice! She made me feel so helpless and did not give me any other options.

2020 Supra listed on cars.com for $4000 under MSPR, call the dealer and found out they wanted $20,000 over MSPR. When I asked why the car is listed at a discounted price they ignored my question and simply reiterated the marked-up asking price. Talk about a shady way to get people to call about the car.

On my previous review, I forgot to mention that Ana was very helpful, polite and friendly. If I had read the email she sent me, before going to the dealer, I would not wasted my time because I would called her first before going to the dealer. I pretty sure she would informed me that the car was sold.

    Worst experience Ever
by Ron from NJ | December 20, 2018

Miguel did not do anything to help me. First he tried to charge me 7000 more for the vehicle ,the internet price was way lower. Car was making a loud noise coming from the dash board he told me they couldn’t do anything to fix it. He was trying to sell me the vehicle as is, why would you sell a lemon his manager didn’t seem to care either. I told him I’ve gone to other dealers and they are very accomadating thet weren’t his manager told him to tell me have a good day. The wait time was horrible to get bad news . Miguel was the sales person not jonathn Munoz can’t bypass section .

    Great experience!
by Bryan Frazier from NJ | November 08, 2018

Upon first impression I wasn’t sure how this was going to go. There was no receptionist and there was no organization as to who to speak to once I got there. But once I was placed with my sales manager Alex, the experience became a different story. He was helpful, professional, but very real. He didn’t xxxxxxxx, lie, or act like he knew things he didn’t, which I appreciate! Even though I was liking at a used Ford he didn’t try to sell me in something I didn’t want. He just gave his honest opinions and knowledge to help me make my decision. I didn’t buy right away, which was actually encouraged by him, to see the other vehicle I had in mind. Even gave me tips on what to look for when seeing other used vehicles, which was welcomed. After viewing the other vehicle and having the exact opposite experience with a local Ford dealer, I chose to go with car at Toyota of Hackensack even without an CPO certification, simply because I just trusted them more, they were upfront with all the costs. Alex didn’t try to slip anything by me when we sat down for pricing. The price was exactly what I expected to pay given the sticker price. I was assisted with getting a great rate on insurance by the dealership, and the finance guy Steve was just as helpful and easy to work with. They matched a finance rate I was approved for by another bank. Steve didn’t hard sell me on an extended warranty, but explained everything pretty well and gave me time to think and research. Overall I came away with a very good experience and so far, a great car. I would definitely recommend dealing with Alex and Steve at Toyota of Hackensack!
