    Horrible Dealership!
by ndmartin1s from St. Charles, MO | December 02, 2019

My wife and I purchased a brand new 2019 Nissan Sentra a few months ago from Nissan Suntrup. The first issue we had was that we brought in a check for the car from our bank, which was put on an employee's desk to process. The employee forgot to deposit the check, then later went on vacation, which resulted in having a number of issues trying to get the title from Suntrup (which we needed to purchase the plates for the vehicle before the temp tags expired). We live an hour each way (2 hour round-trip) from Nissan Suntrup, but my wife had to drive there three times to get this straightened out because no one would call either of us back. Every time we would call, they would give us someone else's voicemail, and not one of them, including the managers, would call us back. After almost two weeks of calling, and never talking to a live person that could help, and no one calling us back, my wife finally had to drive down there to talk to someone. Then, she had to drive down there again when they finally found the check so we could pick up the necessary paperwork. And finally, she had to drive down there a third time because they filled out some of the paperwork incorrectly. We also bought this vehicle from Suntrup because they offer a limited lifetime warranty if you get your oil changed at a Suntrup dealer. We checked this with our salesman prior to buying the car, explaining that it is a two hour round-trip drive to Nissan Suntrup, so we would need to take it to the one by our house - and we were told that yes, getting the oil changed at any Suntrup dealer counts for the liftetime warranty. Then, when the time came to get the oil changed, I took my car to the Buick GMC Suntrup about 10 minutes from my house, only to have the manager there tell me that they are NOT a part of the Nissan Suntrup. Apparently, some of the Suntrup dealers are owned by someone else, which does NOT count towards my warranty. I called Suntrup Nissan, and was told that this is correct, and I would void my warranty by getting the oil changed at the Buick GMC Suntrup. When I asked why I was told otherwise by my salesman, I was told that "he must have forgotten." I asked for a manager to call me back. Instead they had Adella (spelling?) call me back instead, who is the one who left the check on her desk and went on vacation that I had mentioned. She finally agreed to have a manager call me back. The manager (I believe his name was Dave Chapman) did call me back, said he wasn't sure what he could do, but he would call me back later that day with what options I have. A little over a week later, after still no response, I called that same manager (Dave) again, and he told me there was nothing he could do. So now I'm out of options, and will lose my lifetime warranty, due to the fact that I'm not going to drive over two hours every time I want an oil change (and their service department is closed on weekends, which makes it even worse). I'm very disappointed, and would encourage anyone reading this to NOT purchase a car from Nissan Suntrup!

    A Thoroughly Disappointing Experience
by P from St. Louis, IL | January 23, 2019

I purchased a pre-certified Jetta from the Pre-owned vehicles group at the end of October. To start, I was told the vehicle had cruise control (it did not). As winter set in, I noticed that the heated air conditioning did not seem to work. Then, mid-December, the engine began making strange noises and I took it to another local dealership. This dealership discovered problems with the ignition coil, heating coil, and spark plugs, all of which were replaced. I was charged for the spark plugs as they were not under the pre-certified warranty. Then a couple of weeks later, the battery gave out, requiring another trip to the other dealership, who said the battery was the same one the car started with when brand new (nearly 4 years old at that point). I also had to pay for that. Finally, a few days ago, both of my low-power headlights gave out. I tried talking to the service department at Suntrup and was met with excuses and obstinacy. Even after demonstrating, with pictures from the other dealership, that the spark plugs had not been replaced, Suntrup insisted it had replaced them. I asked to be reimbursed for all these issues appearing just 3 months after purchase and they said no. So I contacted VW corporate. At the end, VW corporate said there was nothing they could do and were very apologetic. I have a few concluding points: 1) Stay away from Suntrup Pre-Owned Sales or at minimum question all the promises they give you 2) Be aware that the service department has poor customer service and may have issues within their services department (say they did repairs but did not actually do those repairs). I talked to both Mason and Elliot Silk about these issues, nether person being sympathetic or helpful. 3) Note that Pre-certified is not a guarantee of quality. Batteries that are old and should be proactively replaced are left in if they test ok at the time. Several types of repairs are not covered (including spark plugs, batteries, and headlights) despite the dealerships not doing a thorough job of vetting these parts. 4) Finally, VW will not override a poorly run dealership even if their image is hurt by said dealership. I know that I will never return to Suntrup and may be hard-pressed to stick with Volkswagen (this being my first car with them to boot).

    Great Experience
by Alex Bornstein from St. Louis, MO | January 04, 2017

I had a fabulous experience with Suntrop buying a three year old Honda CRV with less than 30,000 miles. No one was pushy, but they were knowledgeable, helpful and professional. My salesman was Mike Meyer and the finance person was Bryan - they both were great. I would recommend them to a friend

    mike meyer provided excellent service
by todd m. from st louis | December 30, 2016

Mike was determined to help me find a car I like and helped to ensure the car I wanted could be affordable for me. I was even able to leave the lot with my new car the first day I came in looking for one with no idea of what I wanted. Thank you very much Mike, Michele Loseman, and everyone in your finance department. You all are great. Have a happy new year!

    Not your typical dealership
by Penny from Cedar Hill, MO | December 26, 2016

I was forced to shop for a vehicle after mine was totaled which was the last thing I wanted to do during the holidays. I went to a few other dealerships and always left disappointed. Then we looked into Suntrup and were contacted by Mike Meyer. This was by far the best experience we ever encountered at a dealership. Mike was very pleasant to work with and made everything work for me, even sent us a video introducing himself which was very cool. The rest of the staff was fantastic as well and interacted with us to make us feel at home. I will always go to Suntrup!!

Greatest car buying experience of my life
by Anna Schreurs from Florissant, MO | December 24, 2016

Very professional staff, the most helpful i have ever encountered at a car dealer. Donnie "The Badger" was very helpful in getting us into a car when we really needed it. He was very nice and professional all the way through the whole process. If you ever need the most incredible sales guy, call "the Badger" from Suntrup Nissan Pre-Owned center. He is guaranteed To give you the highest quality of service available at a car dealership. Thanks Suntrup for the amazing experience!
