PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. UNPROFESSIONAL
by Jessica from San Francisco | May 06, 2021

After 4 days of back and forth with we got a test drive scheduled for a CRV we put a deposit of 250 so they wouldn’t sell it ans scheduled another Test drive. It was a Mother’s Day present for my mom so we were paying cash. They never showed up for the 2nd test drive and when I called them they said nothing had been scheduled. They have hidden fees that they say is for reconditioning the vehicle. Which is like 2K. I asked for my deposit back and they didn’t want to give it to me after their xxxx up. Waste of time and their costumer service is useless. DONT BUY FROM THEM! They will never negotiate on the price either.

    BEWARE OF SHIFT VEHICLES
by CYNTHIAW from HAYWARD, CA | April 21, 2021

I purchased a BMW with less than 70,000 miles on it from shift on 11/30/20 for $16,000...putting $6000 cash down. I also purchased a warranty for $2900. All of SHIFTS adds indicate they warranty their vehicles for 30 days. DON’T BE FOOLED, THIS IS A LIE. After owning my vehicle for less than 30 days, I called SHIFT because the car was vibrating really hard when cold and I wanted it looked at under their 30 day warranty promise. The Rep at shift told me that SHIFT only cover “Certified Vehicles” for 30 days, and my vehicle WAS NOT certified, and therefore I only had a 7 day warranty. I was completely shocked. I was aware that I had 7 days to return the car but I was not aware of this certified crap and a 7 day warranty. I would have never paid that much for a vehicle knowing that it only had a 7 day warranty from the dealer. I could not believe they were telling me this. The rep indicted that I purchased a very good warranty with a $100 deductible and I should have it looked at by the dealer and the warranty company should cover the cost. Well the BMW dealer requires $225 out of pocked for them to even look at the car, warranty or not. Supposedly when the warranty company (Veritas) approve the charges I would be reimbursed the $125 difference. Being that I had just put $6000 cash down on the vehicle and I had a car payment the following month, and not to mention my family was soon thereafter affected by COVID, I did not have an additional $225 laying around to have the car looked at right away. Not even have put 2000 miles on the car, I put it in the shop and low and behold, the BMW that I paid $16,000 for needs $11,9416 in repairs. And guess what?? The Warranty company denied each and every item that was presented to them. I reached out to Shift again after Veritas denied all of the repairs and SHIFT told me to basically bug off and they couldn’t do anything for me because all of the repairs were related to normal wear (on a vehicle that I had owned around 3 months and I had driven less than 2000 miles). The vibration is caused because the engine mounts are broken. Basically the engine is sitting under the hood on broken mounts (I reported an issue to SHIFT less than a month of owning my car). Let me just list for you the things are wrong with my car that SHIFT Mechanics said are normal wear in this short period of time of owning the vehicle... REPLACE REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNTING BUSHINGS $2302 SMOKE AT TAIL PIPE DUE TO FAILED TURBO OIL FEED LINE $1788.23 BATTERY(AGED FAULTS PRESENT) $440.50 DRIVE BELTS REPLACE ALL - CAUTION/FRAYED - $367 REPLACE LOWER CONTROL ARM VALUE LINE $1571.18 REPLACE FLEX DISC ASSY (GUIBO) $958.04 REPLACE OIL PAN GASKET - $1912.73 ENGINE MOUNT - PNA BOTH MOUNTS - $1315.00 REAR DIFF MNTING BSHINGS - $1286.48 I was also informed that one of the repairs has something to do with SMOG check and my car probably won’t pass smog the next time around. What the heck. All of this ‘Normal and Wear” on a vehicle I’ve driven less than 2000 miles??? You don’t have to take my word for it, but believe me everything I am saying is the truth. BEWARE or you may end up like me with A VEHICLE THAT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE BECAUSE I DON’T KNOW WHEN IT WILL BREAK DOWN BECAUSE OF ALL THESE ISSUES. SHAME ON SHIFT FOR ALLOWING ME TO BE TREATED THIS WAY. THEY ARE A BIG COMPANY AND I AM ONE PERSON WITH LIMITED INCOME AND A FAMILY TO SUPPORT AND YOU RIP ME OFF LIKE THIS. I GUESS THE JOKES ON ME. BUT SHAME ON YOU. I LOSE SLEEP OVER THIS CAR EVERY NIGHT BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE SUCH A FOOL WITH THIS CAR THAT I CAN’T DRIVE BECAUSE I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO END UP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD STRANDED. BUYERS BEWARE...YOU MAY END UP STUCK WITH A USELESS $16,000 VEHICLE THAT NEED $11,000 IN REPAIRS

They never showed up for the test drive. They called to confirm the appointment so I waited around all day for them. A simple phone call stating they weren't going to come would have been fine

Best car buying experience of my life
by Jen from Sf | April 18, 2021

Traded in with Shift and it was a fabulous experience. All done smooth and quickly. The concierge was very friendly and answered all our questions. We never felt rushed or pressured. Got best value for trade in (above Carmax and carvana). The car we bought is in great shape. Very happy with the experience!!

    Sold my car
by Lina from Hinojos | April 15, 2021

I listed my car for sale on shift and they responded very quickly with a quote. The process was incredibly smooth and stress-free. A representative came to my house for an inspection and appraisal. I was offered my asking price and received a $200 credit for having all the required documents ready at the time of the sale. I highly recommend Shift for your car buying and selling needs.

    Buyer BEWARE!! Bait and switch
by JonathanO from Vacaville | April 14, 2021

Buyer BEWARE!! I purchased a 2013 Audi A7 from shift on 3/18/21. When the car was delivered to me I noticed a few features were not included that they advertised online. I contacted my sales agent that same day and she told me someone would call me within 48 hours. 4 days go by and nothing. I call in and speak to another rep who says the same thing. Again no one calls me. So I file a complaint and a review with BBB. I get a call the very next morning. After some back and forth Rafael from their Customer loyalty team refunds me $500. Fast forward to the week of 4/5. I have the vehicle fully serviced at an Audi dealership. During the service they notice 3 different things that were wrong with the vehicle. One of them causing me to not be about to drive the vehicle. So I get the car on 3/18 and it goes into the shop on 4/5 for servicing. That is 19 days I have owned the car. And Shift says that the issues which include from worst to leaset is 1.Fluid migration to where steering fluid is leaking into the transmission valve (undrivable) 2. Engine mounts are sagging and leaking. 3. Upper and lower arm bushings are torn, are from me driving the car during those 19 days. I have an email from Rafael who said he would have shift pay the cost for the repairs done by Audi as long as he got a diagnosis. Well when I sent him the repair cost of $5000 and diagnosis the script totally changed. He offered to have the car inspected by his mechanics who couldn't even find the issues prior to sell. I told him I was not interested. He then offered me a breakdown of what his mechanics would charge for labor and parts. It was a fraction of the cost of Audi's so I don't trust that I will get a warranty on the labor or parts and I have a good feeling their parts are not going to be OEM. He offered me $1200 dollars to compensate for the $5000 I was quoted from Audi..I have already come out of pocket $1700 to fix the major issue so that I can drive the car. I have hired an attorney and I guess I am going to have to spend more money. But it will be well worth it to expose this company. I have photos and documentation from Audi showing that these issues have been going on for some time. I even emailed them to Rafael.

5 Weeks after paid in full, still can't drive car.
by Matt from Boise, ID | March 09, 2021

I purchased a car from Shift 5 weeks ago now, and still to date they have not titled or registered the car in my name. I can't drive the car and I am now beyond the 30 warranty and have had no way to legally transport my family for over a month. The prices might look good but the customer service is horrible and unless you like waiting well over a month before you can even drive it, I would purchase from a company that will sell and register the car to you.

    So easy
by Lauren from Los Angeles, CA | February 22, 2021

Shift made buying a car so easy. After my old car died I didn't have the ability to go to a dealership, and during a pandemic, I didn't want to. I love that Shift just brought the car to my house.

They drove the car to my house to test drive, and 2 hours later I owned the vehicle. Doesn't get any easier than that. Would recommend.
