Shift is your go-to when you want to avoid dealers
by Bay Area Gal from Fremont, CA | February 03, 2021

Shift makes everything quick and easy. Viewing the car online, I already knew I wanted it. I just needed to test drive to confirm it was the car I was hoping for. I was very pleased with the transaction and the support from the team.

    Sold car on Shift
by CarDriver from Bay Area, CA | February 02, 2021

I sold my car to Shift and it was a pretty easy and painless experience. A Shift employee came to my home to do the test drive, made me an offer on the spot and even picked up the car from my home. I was able to sell my car without ever leaving my home.

    Not too bad
by Gu Sing from Fremont, California | February 02, 2021

Overall service was not too bad. Everything is slightly above average. You may need to do more survey before making any further decision to avoid any unhappy incident.

    Easy and Fair
by jlnewmark from Bay Area, CA | February 01, 2021

I was so happy with my Shift experience. I was able to test drive my car (plus one other one) and was able to fill out my paper that same night. I liked not feeling haggled and knew the car would be in good shape. Two days later, someone was able to drop my car off right at my apartment building!!

    Convenient
by John K from Fullerton, CA | February 01, 2021

I sold my 2015 Lexus GS 350 to Shift.com in 2019. It was my first time selling car to online based car dealership and the entire process was easy to painless. The Shift.com advisor came to house on time and explained the entire process. Best of all, Shift.com offer was the highest.

    Enjoyed their services!
by David SJ from CA | February 01, 2021

I have sold and purchased my car with Shift and have been a loyal customer of theirs since 2018. I hope to continue this relationship when I’m ready to trade in my van. Also, their services have improved over the years.

They're Ok, But Still Too Much Like A Dealership
    by paulmeyer1001 from Oakland, CA | February 01, 2021

They're ok. They claim to be faster than a dealership and save you time, but this wasn't the case for me. Shift doesn't let you negotiate, instead their pricing lowers over time. I've looked at several cars that differ from the online posting - in terms of cosmetic and mechanical descriptions. They were great when I sold my car through them, although again, a couple discrepancies. One was saying my (nearly new) Honda Accord needed an oil change - it had one from the dealership two weeks before Shift looked at it. They also mis-listed the CARFAX report. As a buyer, less stellar. Mixed up the car I wanted and had some delays in getting it to me. The car was missing the front license plate (illegal to sell a used car without one) and needed new rear brakes (they said 5mm left but it was 2mm at my independent mechanic). Cosmetic damage to car wasn't taken care of and I had to wait for a lot of back and forth when buying.

Skip and go to a real dealership
by Jim from Los Angeles, CA | January 31, 2021

Their financing options are so limited and horrible. I had an 825 credit score and no debt and the few lenders they use are awful. They also send to 7 lenders at once so it dropped my credit score and I wasn’t able to apply for a card after. They never sent my license and registration to me even after calling them about it for 4 months and you pay an extra $1000 for this service. They also sold me a dent repair policy for $2000 and when I got the fine print I realized it was a huge scam. Tried to cancel the policy the day after I bought the car and I still haven’t received my money back after 4.5 months. No help from shift.

Save time and money, go elsewhere
by EriFlo from California | January 17, 2021

Worst car buying experience ever!!! Shift prides itself on being a new and modern car buying experience yet customer service is not a priority to them. Be prepared for long hold times, never receiving call backs and you will never speak to the same representative. Finance department is a mess. This causes miscommunication, confusion and mistakes. Beware of the 7 day or 200 Miles return policy. It’s a nightmare! Save your time and money, go to a traditional dealership. I wish I would’ve.

    Sold with costly repairs needed
by Cardriver 40 from los ángeles, CA | January 10, 2021

I found the process of buying a car fairly easy. There was a bit of pushy salesmanship, but that doesn't bother me too much. After buying the car, I had it inspected and was told it had an issue that would cost $1000 to fix and should have been noticed easily had the car gone through a full inspection. Getting the issue addressed took way too long and I didn't trust that they'd fix the problem correctly, so I returned it. It's too bad they aren't making the effort to sell cars as advertised. They have a nice website, the "concierge" drivers are polite and on time and a good assortment of cars. Unfortunately, the one thing that they are doing wrong is the most important: hiding easily spotted mechanical issues and hoping you won't find out until its too late. Get your car inspected before purchase if possible; if not, pay for inspection after sale. Don't trust Shift's inspection report.
