    Don't Do IT!!!
by Alysa Norris from Indianapolis, IN | November 28, 2020

I have bought several used cars. My husband was looking for an Escalade specifically. We found a 2011 at this lot. We test drove it and it seemed to drive fine. We only went about 2 miles down the road and back. We applied for financing and told our sales rep Ryan I will not mention is last name because he is the only individual that has attempted to half xxx help us. Our Rep was off on the day the General Manager Justin called us to let us know they could get us approved for a loan. We told our Rep that we wanted payments between $300 and $450. We showed up for them to tell us we were approved at $680 per month. I told them yes i could afford this but I refuse to pay a monthly payment that high for a 2011. He said let him talk to his GM that he could pull strings. The next day my husband received a call that we were now qualified for payments in our prices range about $475. This deal was def way better than $680. We went for it. We arrived to our appointment the next day about 15 mins late. Our Rep was busy so the Finance Manager another Ryan assisted our Rep Ryan with filling out our paperwork. Lets say this was completely unprofessional. He was cursing and carrying a visible gun on his side. He did not ask for any of my documentation they asked me to bring in. I was then sent to the front desk to write a check that they said they would not cash until the following Friday to give our insurance check from our last car time to deposit. I once again had to ask if they needed my documentation for my loan. There were 3 individuals behind the desk playing on their phones and not even answering general questions we had. Finally our Rep surfaces and said he tried to clean the vehicle because their detailer quit. He stated he had to steal floor mats from other vehicles on the lot so we had some. He said he would fill that SUV up with gas if we met him down the street. We met him down the street and he gave us a half tank. Once again it is only gas so I overlooked it. Two days later I received a notice from my bank that this $2000 check was cashed. This was not due to be cashed until the following Friday per them they would wait. This sent my bank account into the negative due to paying my mortgage and other car payment. I called our Rep and he said there was nothing that he could do due to his GM not being in until Monday and he would escalate the issue. Needless to say the GM Justin Clarke never called us back for 3 days straight. They never reimbursed my overdraft fees due to their negligence. Luckily my insurance check arrived and cleared my bank account situation up. I let this slide but asked for an additional key to be made because we only received 1. they said no and they wanted my debit card information to send me $35. Now why in the world would i give them my debit card information when they already sent my account into overdraft 3 days prior. I never asked for anything from them again thinking I was clear from this terrible experience. One week later I get a text saying that they need better pictures of our ID's for the bank. Cool I sent them over once again super upset that I was still hearing from this terrible company. Two weeks later I receive another text stating they need my husbands Schedule C form for the bank. Now I remind you we have had this vehicle for 2.5 weeks now. Why would they cash my $2000 check if they did not have me qualified for the loan? Today 25 days later the starter goes out on this Escalade. Now I am hoping this place will pay to fix this issue. If they do not I expect a refund of my $2000 and they will come tow this from my driveway. Thank god for the Lemon Law. As much as we enjoy this vehicle I want to put working with this ghetto, unprofessional, poor excuse of a business behind me. If I could give this company a negative star I would give them -5!

    Excellent, Honest Dealer
by CURTIS HALEY from Indianapolis | October 11, 2020

Your Salesman, Troy was very helpful, patient, and cheerful. He was honest, provided all the answers I had about the vehicle Iwas looking at. He was very professional. The staff was friendly. The process was smooth and efficient. I was very impressed with this experience. The showroom was clean and comfortable. I felt welcomed from the time I arrived at the lot. Troy was flexible and understanding. He provided options when the vehicle I was looking at was having battery problems. I bought a 2004 Black Honda Civic. I would recommend Sharp Cars

    Terrible customer service
by Jerry from INDIANAPOLIS | August 22, 2019

If you want to be lied to by a bunch of greasy car salesmen then I guess this is your place. They will tell you anything to get you into a car and not hold onto promises. They dont call you back. And if your car needs to be worked on then it will take a month. Thanks Sharp cars!

    Not very responsive
by John from Indianapolis, IN | March 10, 2019

Emailed to ask if a car had been smoked in before I made the trip to look at it. Never received a response. I’m not going to drive 3 hours just to find out if a car has been smoked in or not.

    Bad Customer Service
by Grant from Indianapolis, IN | December 27, 2018

Up to this point in my life, I have always purchased new cars for a variety of reasons including the level of certainty that you walk away with knowing that the car isn’t a lemon. However, this time around, I decided that I wanted a used Ford Flex around the 100k mile mark that was in decent condition. I searched the Indianapolis market for months on a daily basis to try and find the right deal. I had even test drove the car before so I knew exactly what I wanted. Eventually, I found the right deal at Sharp Cars. So I went there on a Saturday and took it for a brief test drive. There were some cosmetic defects but the car seemed functional. I traded my truck in for below what KBB suggested because I knew that I was getting a good deal. I also opted to get the extended warranty coverage in case the car was in fact a lemon. I planned to cancel after a few months if everything worked out which is what the representative had suggested. That was when everything seemed to go downhill. After purchasing the car, the check engine light went on within the thirty minutes that it took to drive home. I took it in the following week and they told me that the catalytic converter and turbo engines needed to be replaced. This was fine with me given that I thought my warranty would cover it. However, apparently the warranty from the outside provider didn’t kick in until 30 days after the purchase for the very reason of car dealerships selling lemons. This meant that I had to come up with a solution directly with the dealership. Sharp Cars wasn’t willing to replace the parts given that it would cost more than the car is worth. They offered to “trade me out of it” which I had never heard before. They essentially were going to find me an equal trade. My first idea was to just take my old truck back. It had only been a week but they claimed they had already sold it off. My second idea was for them to buy another Ford Flex from across town that was also a good deal and then I would buy it off them. They wouldn’t budge on that. It was at this point I asked, can I just have my money back? They could keep the car and I would just look elsewhere. They were unwilling to do that. I was at their mercy while they looked for an alternative at the auction. After two weeks of them looking and finding nothing, I was getting very nervous. They were kind enough to give me a loaner car but I was ready to close this chapter, especially as time progressed. The price that I had paid for the Flex was great and I became increasingly worried they wouldn’t be able to compromise. Eventually, I saw a Subaru Outback at their parent company Capital City Ford. I know in general that Subaru’s are reliable so that I decided to take that. However, I ended up spending much more than I had originally budgeted for. I have waited to write this review for 3 months to see if the Subaru worked and it seems to be fine. This has been a long review but I hope that potential customers get the chance to read this before dealing with Sharp Cars or their parent company Capitol City Ford. Long story short, buying a used car obviously has a certain amount of risk. I thought that I had covered my bases. Clearly I was wrong, perhaps even due to my naivety. I know from working in customer service in my past roles, that it isn’t what happens but how you handle it and they certainly could have done better.

Before you visit, ask if the vehicle runs!
by Dissatisfied non-customer from Albany, IN | December 01, 2018

The employees at the Pendleton location need to talk to one another. I called to see if a truck was still for sale. I was told it was, gave my name and phone number, and said I'd come by for a test drive in the afternoon. I drove more than an hour to the Pendleton location, and when I arrived, I was told that the truck doesn't start! The previous day, another potential customer had run into the same problem. At least two employees knew about the problem, but the fellow I talked to hadn't bothered to communicate with them or make sure the vehicle was ready for a test drive. (The place had zero customers when I walked in, so it's not as though these guys were too busy to talk to one another.) Justin had my phone number--he could have saved me 2.2 hours of driving--but that didn't happen. Sharp Cars is positively the least professional or competent dealership I have ever dealt with. They won't be getting my business.
