Danger! Beware of this dealer.
by Ken through Ebay from Garden Valley California | January 18, 2021DANGER! They sold me a Trooper on Ebay described as above average condition. Turned out to be junk. It is very rusty, rusted through in many places. It was deemed unsafe to drive by a local mechanic, so he kept the vehicle until the repairs were made. It needed new brakes, shocks, tires, and many other repairs. A total of over $2300. Mike would not answer emails or phone calls to remedy the situation. He totally ignored us. For your own protection, no matter what, have any vehicle you buy at Salem Autosports inspected by a good mechanic or you may be on the hook for big repairs. That man is loading up on bad karma. Be careful.

When going through the sale, he cut the price, since the truck had issues (which he had fixed!) I was VERY satisfied. I am enjoying the truck, and think that I got a great deal.

by Sam1k from Madison,WI | October 26, 2020Came in there to look at a vehicle was told that I had to wait until they finished an online auction they were doing finally after about 30 minutes they came out and got the vehicle I was wanting to test drive. There mechanic pulled it up and the inside door panel feel off was told they would fix it. Drove the vehicle found numerous major problems with it after they said it has been inspected by there mechanic. They were willing to take some money off but wouldn’t even add up to the total to repair it or get home with. My advise to people purchasing from them is to make sure you take someone who knows what to look for with you because you dont want to buy a vehicle that won’t even get you home.

They sold me a truck with broken suspension plates and did not communicate this to me. Then they sent my title to USAA instead of me. It took 3 weeks for USAA to receive the title, which I've called in many times, and today was the day it was received. I'm very nervous, because this truck is essential to my livelihood. I'm scrambling trying to register my vehicle before the temporary plate they issued expires.

I was emailing back and forth with Mike, and he was rather quick on the responses, which was a good sign. When I arrived that Saturday, I worked with his son, I think his name was Brandon. He showed me the vehicle I was interested in, but I decided it wasn't in the condition I had hoped it would have been in, but for the price, it was reasonable. He did show me a few other vehicles, one in particular a 2003 Dodge Durango, but I wasn't interested at the time, so I left. Over the week, I thought about it and researched it, and thought that the Durango would actually suit my needs, so I went back the following Friday, since I had a half-day at wotk. This time, I worked with Mike. The pulled the Durango out for me and let me take it out for a test drive. I was able to test it as much as I needed to, and was even able to test the 4X4 on a parch of ice in a parking lot on an incline. I returned and inspected the truck, and I felt that the price was fair. He even gave me a fair trade-in for my old pickup. The transaction was fast as I was paying outright for the truck. Within two weeks, I received the title and plates, which told me that Mike sent the old one in the mail to the DMV right away. The Durango has been running fine during those two weeks. The check engine light never came on, so that told me they didn't delete any codes or anything. All in all, it was a good experience, and Mike, Brandon and one of their service guys (sorry, I didn't catch his name) were all really friendly, helpful, and as far as I can tell, honest. Pretty rare to have that type of experience at ANY lower priced used car lot. The next time I need a lower priced vehicle, I will shop at Salem Autosports.

I flew in from Myrtle Beach SC and he arranged to have me picked up. He said the truck was great and he was right. I drove it over a 1000 miles home without any issues. The truck's alternator went out, but we had nothing to worry about. Mike sent his mechanic out and the alternator was replaced within minutes. Great experience, worth the trip up!
