    Terrible customer service

Rant: Why I wont be returning to Ramsey Subaru In early August I called to make an appointment for a remote start install, oil change and tire rotation for my Forester XT. I normally rotate the tires and change the oil/filter myself, but my jack and stands were back in Chicago, so I figured why not get those done since I was dropping it off for a remote start install anyway. I paid around $350 for the remote kit. The appointment is for 8/27. The weekend before the appointment I find out my mom is coming to Waterloo so I tell her to bring the jack and stands and I pick them up from her on Saturday. So when I drop it off on Tuesday 8/27 I tell them forget the oil change and tire rotation since I can now do it myself. I drop it off Tuesday and tell them, and get an Uber back home. Wednesday goes by and they say its not ready yet. I get a call Thursday evening and they say they are having issues and cant get it to work. They think its because they don't have all the keys... that makes sense, but why didn't they tell me that they needed all three keys when or before I dropped it off? So I Uber home from work during my lunch break, grab the keys, Uber back to Ramsey Subaru and drop them off thinking I will be able to pick it up around 5pm that day. Nope. I get a call Friday, Saying they still cant get it to work. But I can come in and get a Loaner. So I do. I figured I'd get it back Wednesday the next week or something. Nope. Fast forward to Wednesday September 11, they have decided there is a problem with my gauge cluster computer and they can not install it. The gauge cluster would cost $900 plus labor to fix. So I tell them to forget it. Alright whatever, I'll get my money back and I'll just be done with it. Nope. They inform me that they can not return the remote start or the additional module they ordered, about $360 total. When I pick it up I also find out they also did the oil change and tire rotation. $183. So I am out around $543 for pretty much nothing. To make matters worse, they forgot to sync the valet key, so that doesn't work to start the car. I give them a call and complain, and they tell me to bring it back the next day, and they sync it. But that's not all. I check the oil later that day, and its reading that its way overfilled. I figure the engine is still just too warm for a good reading. Nope. I check it three times this morning, when its cold, and it's WAY overfilled. I'm pretty sure they didn't rotate the tires either. Also, if anyone wants a remote start system, its yours for $200.

Will never buy another vehicle here
    by Ma81 from Spencer, IA | April 16, 2019

Purchased a vehicle here about 6 months ago with understanding it had a 90 day warranty. Within 2 weeks, started having problems and as soon as I'd call, all they'd ask is whether or not I purchased an Extended Warranty. They explained their warranty was only on drivetrain. When I told them what was happening and thought it was part of the drivetrain (which it was), they'd tell me it wasn't covered. I took it to my local Ford dealer who looked up the VIN and told me it had a warranty on it from the previous owner and to call Ramsey back to get the info to get it transferred. I called back and they told me the warranty wasn't transferable. I went back to the Ford dealership and they got the info and I paid a $75 transfer fee and it was transferred into my name. Once I had that info I reached out to the previous owner who asked me if I got the pictures of the damage? I told her I wasn't told there was any damage. She informed me it had been through a tornado and the insurance made her fix it and then she traded it in. Said she gave all the info to the dealership and they even had her sign off saying it had prior damage. It was not something that showed up on the Carfax report and they did not give me this information at all! The only thing I can do is warn everyone to not buy a vehicle from this dealership! I can guarantee they were not planning on me finding out this information! They will lie to you to get a sale! The sales process was very slow. The salesman that I had was new, which is understandable, but he didn't receive any help from the other salesmen or manager there. When I called back 2 weeks after the purchase, I was just told he no longer worked there. I spent several hours there waiting for the vehicle. Once I was done with the finance guy, THEN they took the car to be detailed, which took quite a while longer. One of the things I asked them to fix before leaving was the rearview mirror, which was wobbly. It didn't get fixed. After mentioning it to them, they said they didn't have time that day. Ended up having it repaired closer to home and paying for it rather then dealing with dealership again. It needed an entire new mirror because it was the original and was broken from the storm damage.

Very honest, helpful info! Always there!
by jonesZJ from Des Moines, IA | March 14, 2018

I bought my first Subaru and it was a great experience. My sales rep was Paul Moser and he helped me get into the car I wanted and was super helpful and honest in getting me the information I needed. He was always right there throughout the process to answer my questions. There was one time in particular when I called him on his off day and he was at the gym and still took my call. He took the time to answer my questions and do all he could for me. Highly recommend a Subaru as it has been a great car. Also recommend buying from Ramsey Subaru, Paul Moser specifically.

    Worst Car dealership Experience EVER!!!!!!
by Shawn from Norwalk, Ia | January 09, 2018

It is obvious this location relies solely on their product selling itself because they show NO common courteously. We were treated as if we were nothing but a hassle. We were told to go to Waterloo which ended up great because the customer service there was amazing and we bought a 50th anniversary edition of the Limited Outback. The people here were dishonest, rude, unfair, and unwilling to work with you. I just want to warn people that you will get a better deal and be treated more kindly at C&S Waterloo Subaru location or probably anywhere else for that matter. Just don't feel like you have to sacrifice good customer care for a product you really want, it is well worth traveling else where to receive both.

    Pleasure to buy from!
by Kevin Hoffmann from Urbandale, IA | July 03, 2017

Purchased a 2017 BRZ from Paul Moser little over a week ago. Great experience. This being my second BRZ, but first time buying at Ramsey, Paul did a great job of streamlining the process for me. Andy got the financing done lightning fast and exactly how I wanted it. The brownies Paul sent to my work were a big hit, good marketing tactic! Shiv Patel also was a great resource in the follow up visit, thanks for the $50 gift card. Hope to buy another from them in the next few years, sooner if Subaru and Toyota throw a turbo in the BRZ. Great job!!!

Paul Moser was great! He helped us pick out our new Forester and answered all our questions with a smile and a joke! He made the experience fun rather than overwhelming.
