by Michael Martinez from ROCHESTER | November 02, 2019I purchased a car at the end of August and was advised to purchase the extended warranty plan. Michael Martinez went over the cost of repairs if a headlight went out and a series of scenarios. I was told that if I purchased it, that it would bring the value of the car up and could be transferred to the new seller, or I could ask for a refund and it would be prorated from the date I bought the car. I opted to get this warranty and paid 3K. I normally never buy an extra warranty, but felt compelled to do so after his many scenarios were given to me. A few days went by and I felt that something wasn’t right and called the Lincoln extended warranty number online. I found out that what I purchased was through them to begin with as they already had my name, car and all information in the database. They informed me that the policy was only $2200 not the 3K Metropolitan had charged me. I was also informed I could cancel the policy with Metro and buy it directly through them. I immediately called Metro and requested a cancellation and explained my reasons. I was told they would get back to me as the policy was 3K and they didn’t know why I was quoted $2200 on the phone. Metro called me back and asked that I not cancel the policy and in turn they would refund my $800 with no real reason why. Fast forward to a little over a month later I opted to sell the car as I found out that I had a new grandbaby coming and he has Downs Syndrome. Since I am an RN and work in the NICU, I know that the potential for oxygen tanks and other equipment might be needed and my car simply would not be big enough. I immediately bought a bigger car knowing that premature birth is a factor with DS. I called and cancelled the warranty that I had purchased a month prior for $2200 and was told a refund check (prorated) would be coming within 6-8 weeks. Imagine my surprise when a refund check came within a week for $1200 with $1000 missing. I called and spoke to Michael who informed me that the proration was from the first date the car was in service from the original purchaser, not when I purchased it. I disagreed with him and told him that was NOT what he told me when I bought the car. In fact, one of the selling points he presented to me for the purchase of this was that if I sold the car, I could potentially get most of my money I paid for it since it was prorated. I felt that the entire way this was handled was in appropriate and felt like they were taking advantage of me. He then proceeded to tell me that Metropolitan Ford was for profit and that he was willing to bet who I worked for was for profit as well. I told him I was a RN and then immediately started attacking my profession saying all hospitals are for profit and laughed. I was totally appalled and informed him that his behavior was totally unprofessional and uncalled for. I am still in shock over such unprofessional behavior and personal attack on my profession.

by N/A from Minneapolis MN | July 26, 2019Purchased a 2008 Cadillac SRX and everything went super smooth. No pressure to buy warranty or anything else. Recently I received a check in the mail for accidental overcharges, I was none the wiser on that. Beware of the trolls that trash this dealership they are super honest.

by Tony Gambino from Cave Creek, AZ | July 09, 2019OMG! DON'T PURCHASE FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. I started dealing with Mike Koch who seemed nice on the phone. As an out of state buyer I reviewed the vehicle with Mike several times. He assured me he was standing at the car and it was Perfect! I was especially concerned about bad swirl marks as the dealerships often have inexperienced kids performing the detailing. Mike assured me it was perfect and there was No Swirl Marks at all. I paid extra for an enclosed carrier to deliver the car to me. The driver unloaded the car and said 'oh my god' I'm soo sorry it looks like they've taken it off road it was so muddy. The driver told me when he picked it up Mike make the comment 'oh my god' I thought this would be shipped on an open carrier so we didn't bother to clean it up at all. Mind you, before the truck arrived Mike told me personally that the car had be 'sent to the detail shop' to be cleaned up prior to shipping. Just another lie. I won't even go into the blemishes on the passenger door, the scratches on the drivers fender, the scuff marks along the passenger side, among other things. I was transferred to Matt the Sales Manager. All I requested was that I take it to a Ford dealership in my area and have it detailed to remove whatever swirls they could. Sales Manager Matt was again very indignant and told me he only mad $20 on the car and could not afford to pay for a detail. Like his bad business practices somehow became my responsibility. Do yourself a favor and purchase from somewhere else. You will find both Mike and Matt to be total liars. One lies and the other swears to it. We are talking about a 2018 vehicle that is less than a year old. All this and all I asked for was for the vehicle to be detailed as it should have been in the first place. I would have preferred zero stars but one is the least I could put.

by Elizabeth Sibley-Dodson from Minnetonka | December 19, 2018Metropolitan Ford met every expectation I had for buying a new car. I worked with Mike Jones, who I would recommend to everyone. The whole experience was quick and easy. Torrey in finance was also extremely helpful and made all the paperwork go quickly. I have never had such a good experience with a dealership and there have been many over the years.

by scott rieken from Edina | October 14, 2018I purchased a 2013 F150 from this dealership. At this time I purchased a extended warranty for 6 years 125,000 miles. I was told if I did not use the warranty I would receive my money back. At around 110,000 miles I took the truck into this dealership for a $400 repair I was told that if I used the extended warranty to cover this repair I would void getting my money back. I chose to pay out of pocket and save my warranty. At 114,000 and 5 1/2 years I decided to purchase a new truck (different dealership). I took my paperwork into Metropolitan Ford to ask for refund for my unused extended warranty. They said no problem, would submit the paperwork and I would be issued a check. Two weeks later I received a check for $190 for the amount of unused part of warranty. I talked to numerous people at Metropolitan and they stated if I did not complete the length of the warranty there was no full refund. They produced a two page form that had one sentence that stated this. The form they produced had my signature on it. The exact form I had from the time of purchase did not have my signature on it only the finance managers. After numerous trips to dealership and numerous conversations with multiple people it was clear they would not refund my money. I will never buy another vehicle from this dealership, my family will never buy another vehicle from this dealership! They pushed this extended warranty on the premise of having nothing to lose because if you never use it you will get your money back. Never once mentioning or even having me sign something that stated if you did not complete warranty time or mileage you would not receive a refund. They even scammed my out of another $400 by convincing my to pay for repair and not use warranty. I’m sure they did nothing illegal but they definitely operate in a deceiving way. I would take my business elsewhere.
