    Very dishonest Service department

    In January I was traveling in my 2018 Pleasureway Plateau TS when I suddenly lost power and pulled over to the side of the road. I had recently hit 20000 miles on the odometer. I had roadside assistance come. They found a fuel leak with fuel everywhere under the hood. He fixed the leak with zip ties. It started but only ran about 5 miles. I was then towed to Kettleman City so I would be in a safe place, then later towed to Mercedes Benz in Fresno. While at the dealer in Fresno I was told they didn’t have the exact part but could fix it so I could be on my way and make it to my shift at work. A short time later Chris Klein came to me and told me nothing would be covered by warranty and the fix would cost almost $400, later decreased to $299. A while later I was called into an office with Chris and told that my RV would not start and they needed to run diagnostics which would cost $1400-1900 and take 6 hours. Nothing being covered by warranty. I was also told several times because I had an oil change done that was not by a Mercedes dealership, nothing would be covered by warranty in the future. I called my mechanic in Salinas who I have known over 8 years. A mechanic I trust. The MB people reiterated to him that my warranty was void because of the oil and fuel filter change. I arranged to have the RV towed to Salinas because I felt I could not trust these people and all the charges would come out of my pocket anyway since I now did not have a warranty. I feel I was bullied into a progression of threats. A knowledgeable mechanic would have been able to diagnose the problem immediately. It took my mechanic about 30 seconds. My van would not start because it was OUT OF FUEL! It had an empty fuel tank because of the fuel leak. If I had left my van at Mercedes Benz, I could have been cheated out of thousands of dollars and never known the truth. As it is I was completely taken advantage of as a single alone female. They seemed way more concerned with being sure I knew I had screwed up my warranty then with fixing my RV. A few days later I received a text from Chris saying Mercedes Benz hopes I am completely satisfied and they “will do everything in our power to gain my complete satisfaction.” I sent a letter and I was finally contacted by a group from Mercedes Benz by phone on March 13. I did not feel I was going to get any kind of satisfactory answer and was told they would send me an email reiterating our phone conversation. I never received that email. I did receive a letter saying they did not feel they had any responsibility and a check for the $299. They said if I had left it there they MAY have come to the same conclusion. If I had not been repeatedly told that my RV was no longer under warranty, of course I would have left it there. But believing I would be paying out of pocket for everything and would probably never know the truth I chose to put it in the hands of someone I trusted. I then contacted the Mercedes Benz customer care and after numerous phone calls and emails did get a call from Fresno. It cost me about $3000 in tow bills, rental cars, a place to sleep ( I live in it full time), and lost wages when it could have been diagnosed in 30 min by a knowledgeable mechanic. They did finally say they would give me $400 and that my warranty is good and I should have known that all along. I have since learned that under federal law it is illegal for a dealer to deny warranties because someone other than the dealer worked on a vehicle. I have also learned that it is a common tactic for a dealer to imply that a warranty is void. It is so obvious to me this is exactly what they were doing. I would not trust MB of Fresno ever. And I have read plenty of reviews here that tell me many others feel the same. And, honestly they should be very embarrassed. It was out of fuel!

    The service dept. thinks they are more important than the customer. They'd rather argue than provide service. The manager would rather tell you to never come back than to resolve any issues. They know they are the only dealership in a 2 hour radious and they behave accordingly. Take the 2 hr. drive and save yourself 2 to 5k and your dignity.

    7/2014. Service is very poor. Took my car in for warranty work. 1. Service advisor B. Wilson behaved like he didn't want to listen to me explain all the problems I want fixed. 2. Made an appointment 1 week ahead for 7:30am so I can get a loaner (per appointment staff's recommendation) but none was available when I went there. Didn't get a loaner. Funny...I got an email later saying that I missed my appointment. Disconnect somewhere you think? 3. Found one electronic device not reconnected by tech. 4. Tech threw out my property. Staff later found it in dump bin when I asked. 5. Took more than two weeks to call me that parts are in. Then said that they had called me several times. 6. Took several attempts to get an answer about what repair was done and the answer was still vague. 7. Improperly installed parts. 8. Didn't know the equipment on my model year and argued about it. 9. Made 4 trips and some issues still not resolved. On two of these occasions the SA said there was no tech available and to bring my car back another day. 10. Blamed the issues on something other than the car; gave excuses to avoid looking into the issue. After 4 trips I'm still left with incomplete repairs from my initial visit. I'll be going back for the 5th time in a week and I'm sure several more times after that. There are a few small pluses: 1. I did get a loaner on visit number 2. 2. MBofF did authorize a very small part that was not under warranty. 3. While I was waiting for the SA, staff who walked by always said hi to me with a smile. 4. I've been to the parts dept. many times and they were always knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. 5. The coffee shop (free latte) has always been a plus. 6. SA Skinner and Grophetti were pleasant. As someone else here stated, I love Mercedes but this really makes the brand a turn-off. This is my second Mercedes after driving my old C for over a decade...next car may be another brand. Once I'm out of warranty, there are so many indie shops that do an excellent job in this area. Update 9/2014...1 of the problems came back. Item was repaired and not replaced. I'm dreading going back but it has to be done esp while I'm under warranty. Update 3/2015...went back to finally resolve the issue above that came back. Got a call that my car was done. Got the car...bill said tech couldn't find the prob. Recommended to set another appointment so I can show tech what the prob was. OMG...how many more times? Why did I not get a call telling me they couldn't replicate the prob. or have me go in and show them. Yet I get a call saying my car was done. Poor poor service. Update 3-19-15: I completed the email survey sent by MB USA. I expressed everything above. Within 30 mins. Kevin Ryan, Dir. of Service at MB Fresno, called me. He yelled, because of my response on this survey and the one at the end of last year "don't come back and we dont want you here". He slams the phone. Enough said.

    We called the dealership looking for a specific car and was connected with Delmer Poe who spent a lot of time answering questions about the car, the whole process of evaluating out trade in and putting us in the car of our dreams. We have been completely satisfied with Delmer's personal attention to our needs. Delmer provided us with an outstanding car buying experience and we were also impressed with how nice the facility looked. We will be buying another car soon and we were so happy with Delmer's assistance we will only work with him in the future. He actually called us a couple of days later to be sure we were still happy with our car!
