Lamont was very responsive, friendly, engaging, and willing to talk about getting a deal done. We spoke about the car for purchase and I found out it wasn't at the Dealership yet but in transit after a purchase at auction. The car was supposed to be received on Saturday, January 11th. I had a friend lined up to see the car since I'm 5.5 hours away and all was good until Lamont called me and said the car wasn't ready until 4 PM. Once it was available my friend wasn't available. After having my friend stop in on Monday to look over the car I was told the car was no longer available and had been sold. I doubt this was Lamont's fault but this is unacceptable. What if I had driven 5.5 hours down to look at the car or taken a flight down to look at the car? Would have been a total waste of my time and gas. I'm still looking to work with Lamont (if possible) since he's a good guy and easy to work with. However, I will now forever question whether I can trust Lithia and the internal communication process. Someone should have told the other Salespeople (like Lamont) that the care was being looked at by someone else or, better yet, when it was sold.

by Nick Fox from Johnston, IA | August 19, 2019After dealing with Lithia VW Des Moines over the years on the purchase of 4 different cars over 5 years, the hassles of dealing with them is too much. They don't honor service appointments, they are impossible to reach by phone, they screwed up the finance paperwork twice on my latest purchase, they screwed up the title transfer paperwork on my trade causing me to have to help them sign and transfer the title to the new owner when they sold it. They screwed up the payoff on the trade and didn't honor what I was told by the sales staff. Avoid Lithia of Des Moines. It's too bad they are so bad to work with, I really like my VW cars.

I purchased a vehicle Saturday morning and was told we are going to detail your car for you than you can pick it up Monday we will call you when its ready. I was ok with that. Monday 4pm rolls around and I don’t get a call so I have to call in and ask is it ready? They say sorry no its not it wont be ready until Tuesday. Again no call on Tuesday so I call in around noon and say is it ready? Sorry it will be ready wed before noon. I get a text at 10am today (wed) that says it will be ready at 1pm see you than. I am on my way to lithia and at 1255 I get a call saying sorry it is not ready it will be ready Thursday!!! That is ridiculous to get a detail done went from Monday to Thursday and each day no updates just a last minute call when I am already out to their shop. I was 2 minutes away and after I spent 17k on a minivan! I asked what they can do to make it right and they stated they can’t do anything. When I stated to take the protection plan off that I paid for the sales person is talking me back into it and I am sure it will be a hassle for me to remove it when I arrive to pick up my car hopefully tomorrow but at this rate im not sure ill get the vehicle I paid for. Horrible service horrible post sale experience. Once they had my money they had no interest in providing good customer service or making it right! If you don’t have anyone to detail the car as you promised there are plenty of shops on your street that can detail it. I stated to remove the permaplate once they told me for the 3rd day in a row its not ready today it will be tomorrow. They got back to me right away when i said that and said sorry we can't remove it we already applied it your car is ready. How did my car go from maybe it will be ready tomorrow to its done as soon as i want to remove permaplate? Shady business! Thiefs!
