Worst car buying experience I have ever had.
by Neal from McHenry, Il | April 09, 2013Awful. I dont know how to say it any better than that. My wife and I recently came to this deal to purchase a new or slightly used GMC Terrain after looking at one online. Unfortunately we did not come to an agreement on a price. They called me an hour after I got home and brought the price down about 300 more dollars, which was not nearly what we needed to make the deal work. They called the day after and brought it down 10 dollars a month. Called the day after, and the price went back up! Following this I sent a couple price inquiries on different cars I was interested in at the same dealer, with no response. I called several times with promises of calls back, and never got them. After a few more online inquiries I get a call back today. It was from the manager I originally spoke with regarding the sale and he was nothing but rude to me. I was asking a question on a price because the monthly payment I came up with was drastically less then their figures, and anytime I tried to get a word in, he just kept talking over me louder and louder. I wanted to think this was an isolated incident, but after talking to several others and looking up other reviews, it seems like this treatment is closer to the standard for them. This is the first time in my history of buying cars (about 6 or so) that I have ever went in with the intention to buy a specific vehicle, and was so disrespected that I wouldn't ever even consider buying another vehicle from them.

I just wanted to let you know we leased a new Sorento EX yesterday Jim Boushley explained the value of leasing sealed the deal. We were looking at four other dealerships and they did not come close to level of salesmanship as your team. Everyone was very professional and helped make the process go smoothly despite my old views on leasing.

I only hope your Services team is a good as your Sales team. Hopefully we will not need them for a long time and my expectations are very high thanks to Jim Boushley and the finance guy (Sorry! I don't remember his name, we were in and out so fast). so we are looking forward to a long and lasting relationship with Gary Lang and staff.

 Thank you!!

by Debbie W. from Crystal Lake, IL | November 10, 2012Just took delivery of our new Outlander Sport. Our Sales Person, Jim Boushley, was terrific! He took the time to take us through many options, ides, answered questions, etc. He was patient, accomodating, really was attentive to our needs. Negotiating price and our trade-in was a pleasant surprise - they came back with a great deal and a competitive trade-in amount! Overall we are very pleased, exceeded expectations! I couldn't recommend Gary Lang, and Jim more highly!

by Travelin' Man from Northwest Burbs | October 14, 2012We purchased our fifth vehicle from Lang yesterday, a 2013 Kia Sorento. They truly have the buyers best interests at heart. They found the exact vehicle I wanted from another dealer quickly and waited patiently for me to come in to complete the transaction. They deal on a very upfront and direct basis, no games. Would recommend Lang to anyone in the market for a new (or used) vehicle.

by tomthegreek56 from glenview, Il | July 31, 2012If you are trading a car in at Gary Lang they will have an appraisal form. Once they look at your car they will have numbers written on the form. Divide the numbers by 2 and this will be the value of the car you are trading. Anything below this number that they give you for your car is profit for the dealer. If you are buying a new car beware that they may added the rebate to the sales price thus increasing the gross profit of the dealer and additional commission for the salesman. This practice is fraud.
Customer Service Quality of Repair Buying Process Overall Facilities Shopped for a new carShopped for a used carDoes Not recommend this dealer.Did Not purchase a vehicle.Typical Used Car Stuff
by Woody from Lake County | June 20, 2012Purchased a used car over the phone...which was quite an easy process. When I arrived at the Dealer the Vehicle was not perfect as described but was in the price range so I moved forward with the purchase. After much research, paid sticker price without objection. But was only offered one Key Fob at delivery after being told it must be somewhere and they would find it. When I returned was told it would cost $175 to have one made and the manager refused to cover it. Entire experience is tainted by a Used Car Dealer not beating expectations and offering the replacement Fob. Again Typical Used Car stuff (take the money and run). Perfect example of Buyer Beware...get it all in writting, trust no one and always be on guard. Very Loyal customer to those who treat customers the right way. Will not by from them again and glad to say have had 2 people walk away from deals they had pending there. Life Lesson for those in Business...."Do the Right Thing the First Time".

by Rich from Island Lake, IL | May 01, 2012I brought my 2009 Cadillac Escalade into Gary Lang to get some warranty work done. They exceeded all of my expectations. The Service Advisor, Chris Scholer, went above and beyond to make sure everything got done right and done quickly. What I thought would be a 2 or 3 day job they had done in 24 hours. I would recommend them to anyone who's looking for one of the best service departments in Illinois.
