    Bad Dealership
by Manager Rich from Wickliffe, Ohio | May 25, 2020

I walked into the used car dealership on two separate days and no one was there in the office to greet incoming buyers. I was in communication with a salesman during the day about the vehicle I was interested in and when I got to the dealership he was trying to juggle between my business and another possible client. After I left the dealership on a Friday to think over the purchase, I bought the used vehicle Monday and drove it home. On my drive home, I began to hydroplane in the rain Multiple times, during my 50 minute drive. Then Tuesday morning my car would not start. As it turns out it had a lot of corrosion. The dealership refused to bring me a new battery until Thursday. ALWAYS check the tires, battery, and brakes.

    Dishonest
by Christina Brim from Tallmadge | May 07, 2020

Was purchasing a cheap car for my 16 year old. Asked Mike, the salesman if there were any mechanical issues with the car. He said mechanic looked at it and no major issues. We drive about an hour to the dealership. When we got there Mike told us the car would need a new exhaust but no big deal about $200-300 dollars. Also needed new tires, which was fine as those are wear and tear items. Seemed reasonable for the price of the car. The next day the check engine light came on. We took the car to a mechanic and not only does the car need an exhaust, it also needs a new catalytic converter as it was welded to the exhaust, a new bearing for the tire, new sway bar, O2 sensor, brakes, radiator, and more. The repairs alone a costing more than the car. Hardly "no mechanical issues" as advertised.

I will regret ever buying from this dealer.
by Vance Simmons from Columbus, Ohio | March 08, 2020

Back in October of 2019, I was in the market for a new car and was looking at Subaru WRX's. I found one at Ganley Subaru East which was in my price range, so I went there on the weekend to check it out. Checked it out, test-drove the car, and everything seemed fine. Steering seemed a little tight at the the time, but didn't really alarm me (more on this later). Buying process was swift and they got me out of the door in good time. I was disappointed to see that the vehicle I traded in was listed for more than three times the amount I received for the trade-in only a couple of days later. The car was doing its job and running smoothly for the next two months. Then, January came. My steering had become so tight that I just couldn't comfortably drive it, so I took it in to the closest shop to me. Upon inspection, they determined that the steering rack needed replaced for $1400 because it was leaking power steering fluid. This was a problem that was already affecting the car when I bought it, as I described earlier. Last week, Ganley sent me photographs of the service done to the car prior to being put up for sale. I was baffled to see that the labor put into this car by Ganley included a power steering fluid refill. Power steering fluid is in a closed system, meaning you should never have to replenish it like windshield washer fluid. How does a problem like this not become obvious when the power steering fluid was replaced? And then, the big one. I'm driving on the highway the very next month, heading home from a family visit when my car's engine shuts off. Thankfully, no cars were behind me when this happened, so I was not put in danger as a result. The car would not start back up, so I had to have it towed home. When I had it brought to the local shop again, they discovered that the timing belt had slipped, smashed the pulley bearing, and the pulley was now hanging. In addition, since the car was travelling at highway speeds, the slip also caused damage to the valves of the engine. The damage was significant enough that the engine was not functioning properly when started up with a new timing belt. I was then quoted at $10,000 to have the engine replaced with labor. This amount in addition to the steering rack cost has nearly totaled the amount I paid for the car within four months of owning the car, of which I have driven it only three of the four due to service being done to it. When reporting this, Ganley sent me a work order of what was done to the car before sale, but would not assist me any further. I will not be doing business with Ganley anymore and I will advise everyone to steer clear of this dealer.

Stopped in with the intention of getting information and taking a test drive, and left with our first Subaru! Brad is very knowledgeable and made the car buying process easy, painless and stress free. All the folks at Ganley were friendly, helpful and professional. Excited to be brand new members of the Subaru family!

Visit to Ganley Subaru East, Wickliffe OH
by Jack Wilson from Cleveland, Ohio | August 04, 2018

My wife and I visited Ganley Subaru with an appointment to see a Subaru Impreza. We were warmly welcomed by Gino Palombo, who marveled at our car - A 1999 Subaru Forester. Gino arranged for an Impreza to be brought into the service bay since it was raining outside - a thoughtful consideration I sat in the driver's seat, with my wife in the passenger seat. Gino gave us a good introduction to the new features on the Impreza, as compared with our Forester. Whilst the car was very nice, we were both disappointed in the rear visibility, which we both felt to be very poor, with blind spots, unlike our Forester. Gino also showed us, and arranged for us to take a drive in a Crosstrek, which we did. However it had the same defect. Gino was very courteous and pleasant, and a pleasure to work with, even though we decided that we would not buy a new car, but stay with our Forester.

    worst experience of my life
by James Conomy from Bay Village | August 25, 2016

Worst Car shopping experience of my life. I called Ganley Subaru at 5:52 pm. I talked to a very polite receptionist ,cant remember her name unfortunately. I asked her about a very specific car (2014 Subaru wrx base model with some modifications done to it). She told me that they still have the car and asked if I would be coming in to look at it . I informed her that i would be and she took my name and number. At 6:09 p.m. Ken Johnson sent me a text asking to call him if i have the time. I call and talk to ken. After getting grilled for 5 mins on how serious I was about buying the car. I told him when I would be up there to look at it and test drive it. He informed me that most of the sales people would busy with other customers and I might have to wait. Also that he was already leaving for the day. Ken told me before we got off the phone to give him a call when was on my way. I called at 7:06pm when we were getting off the free way only to be reach a voice mail. We entered the lot and i knew everyone was busy so we walked around a little and looked for said car and could not find it. after walking around for twenty minutes with no one even asking if we have been helped i walk in the sales office only to be ignored until Jeff was able to step away and try and get some one to help me. After being passed around by a couple people we land on josh. Who was so horrid at his job that he stopped helping us to do things for "other customers" now it was nearing 8:00 and still they have not even shown us the car and could not locate the keys. It was not until after 8 that they said their master maniac had locked the keys up but they wanted me to test drive something else that was no where near the same as the car i was coming to look at. So i called ahead for no reason drove 45 minutes both ways in a lease to not see a car the whole point of calling a head was so they can get everything ready. I mean i already got grilled on weather i was serious about buying it or not. I had to leave the only saving grace to this place was a sales woman named Candi who was the only one that wanted to sell on the car but she did not want to step on a fellow salesman's toes by doing so. I don't think i will be going back anytime soon and if i do and that's a big if i will only work with her.
