Pressured to buy a car over the phone sight unseen
by NotAStupe from Sacramento, CA | May 20, 2020

Made an appt to test drive a car. 10 minutes later, a pushy sales rep calls and says test drives are only allowed if you purchase the car first. She tells me to come in early to set up financing, prove insurance, provide my driver's license, etc. Then, we will give you 20 minutes. NOT! Camax is obviously a scam and only schmucks would buy the car before driving it. Won't go there now or in the future. Don't demean yourself and go to Carmax. Good luck.

    Negative stars
by Todd from Roseville | March 26, 2020

Bought a Nissan Altima there and found out that it was $3,500 overpriced. When my wife and I went to our bank they would not finance us. When we returned the vehicle within seven days the sales manager gave us major negative attitude. We , nor people we know will never go back to carmax.

    Changed pricing...
by Disappointed from Stockton, CA | January 10, 2020

They advertised a "recently listed" truck for sale then changed the pricing about 2 hours later and did not answer my request for information earlier... She told me that don't play games like that and if I'd taken a snap shot they would honor it!! WTH

by James from Roseville ca | July 22, 2019

We brought our car to this car max it was our first time here, we went threw all the paperwork, but we were missing some paperwork, no problem when home and got it, the second time They asked for our recent dmv stickers, well that would have not been a problem , but we live 2 hrs away, and we were already there twice I wish they would have told us all the paperwork that was going to be needed at the beginning, There very disorganized, and you have to weight in long lines,

    Carmax Roseville
by Michelle Isheim from Foresthill, Ca. | December 21, 2018

Buyer beware of ineptitude! My experience centers around an inept sales associate and impotent sales managers who have no desire to fix what their employee screwed up. I had a vehicle on hold in San Diego...long story short the sales rep took off my hold and let another Carmax employee claim the vehicle for his mother. Sound unethical? Complained at length and was told they were committed to finding me a comparable vehicle. Ha! Their solution was a car on the east coast that would take up to 28 days to get to Roseville and wasn't even an AWD like the car I had previously on hold. So, I found a vehicle in Fairfield that was the exact same car with 10,000 less miles. I asked them to waive 1,000. 00 dollars (the cost of the transportation they were willing to waive) and I would end up paying 2k more for the same vehicle! Guess what? I was told they don't adjust prices on cars...it is one foundations of the company. I find that terribly hypocritical since they are also founded on easily transferring cars from around the country and having great customer service. Total BS. Calling back Customer Relations at Corp. headquarters to discuss the fact that their managers have admitted their culpability and refuse to do anything meaningful about it. Since this event I have heard many horror stories like mine and I have decided to start a blog CarmaxRosevilleSucks. I will post Saturday if this issue isn't resolved. Please look for it and share your negative experiences on the blog page. Remember- anyone can say they do they best for their customers- but when problems happen- that is when you see an organizations true business ethics. Sad.

    Scam?
by Suzanne from Roseville | July 08, 2018

Had a car transferred - sales rep took my cc detail assured me cars transferred meet strict guidelines to match pictures and quality and be in to view the next week - took 10 days and I got my slacks and shirt dirty just opening the door to sit in it - filthy dirty as if in a dust storm smelled - such a let down and sales guy who talked to on a 10 day vacation? I feel completely scammed and will share my experience with all

Brent Robken offered a great buying experience. I have purchased many cars but this had to be the best purchase ever. Brent made everything easy to understand and I'm sure that I wouldn't have purchased this car if not for him. I would highly recommend Brent Robken to anyone looking for a car.

on having a vehicle transferred from mid-west carmax to Roseville, the process was easy, but the follow-up was poor. When the vehicle arrived, interior was in poor shape and the sales perosn at roseville we were dealing with gave the same tired excuse of pricing take flaws into account. It did not takee into account the apparent lack of care in checking at the kansas dealership and roseville. The upside to this story is that after some very direct conversation with the sales person, they spoke with the GM and they agreed to refund the transfer fee. The other up on this is by chance, found another suitible vehicle, much nicer, different model (Santa Fe) there. Even though it was a bit more, the condition and features were superior to the borrego we had originally intended to buy. Saving grace for the dealer was that if they hadn't done the transfer refund, I would have walked and made huge deal of it with their corporate office. Although CarMax does a generally good job, I think the economy has had an effect on CarMax and changes in its compensation structure for it s sales reps have taken its toll on fucntion as well. They however remain efficient in purchasing processes. And their repair shop is far more efficient and reasonable then my last experience a few years back. All and all, if you treat this company like any other car sales place, reasonable but ready to grind down on them, they still are still fairly good at their business adn to deal with. i other words never, be afraid to ask questions, take no greif or excuses from anyone and never be afraid to walk, even there.
